Spider is one of Vesper Solitaire's three games: spider solitaire, the two-deck patience game, on Vesper's twilight table. Play it free in your browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer, with nothing to download and no account to make. Every deal you're given can be won: each one has been played through to a win before it reaches you.

How to play spider solitaire

The goal is to build eight runs from king down to ace, each in a single suit. When a run is complete it leaves the table by itself, and the game is won when all eight have gone.

• Move any face-up card onto a card one rank higher, of any suit: a 7 on any 8.
• You can move several cards together only when they form a run in one suit, like the 9, 8 and 7 of hearts.
• Any card, or any one-suit run, can go into an empty column. When you uncover a face-down card, it turns face up.
• Click or tap the stock to deal one new card onto every column. You can only deal when no column is empty.

1, 2 or 4 suits

With 1 suit every card is a spade, so any run can move: the relaxed way to learn. 2 suits mixes spades and hearts, and 4 suits uses all four, the classic hard game where planning which suit goes where is everything. Switch from the bar above the table.

Tips

Build in one suit whenever you have the choice, uncover face-down cards early, and keep an empty column as long as you can: it's the most useful space on the table. Undo is unlimited, and Hint shows you a move when you're stuck.
